Elie Hatem


Elie Hatem is the United Nationals Alliance director who oversees its dealings with France. He is a trained lawyer, obtaining his initial barrister-at-law qualification from the Paris Bar Association and later a Masters in French law. He subsequently acquired a doctorate in International Public Law and Constitutional Law and a PhD in Diplomacy and Administration of International Organisations from the University of Paris. During his varied career, Elie has travelled extensively. He was previously a professor in International programs at Boston University and is now a professor at the Free Faculty of Law and Economics of Paris. Elie was previously the plenipotentiary Minister of the State of Anjouan (Comoros/Africa). He also acted as a consultant to Mr Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the former secretary general of the United Nations. He has also lived in Lebanon and Cyprus acting as a consultant to the former Lebanese president, Amine Gemayel and the former president of Cyprus, Glafcos Clerides. Elie is currently president of the Foundation for Francophonie and a member of the political board of L’Action Française.
